Cllr John Brennan elected as Cathaoirleach of the Southern Regional Assembly

Cllr John Brennan elected as Cathaoirleach of the Southern Regional Assembly

At the AGM of the Southern Regional Assemby, held 14th July 2017, Cllr. John Brennan was elected Cathaoirleach replacing outgoing Cathaoirleach Cllr. Mattie Ryan.  Cllr. John Brennan was first elected to the Southern Regional Assembly in 2014. He was a member of the South-East Regional Authority from 2004.  A member of the Fine Gael party, Cllr Brennan represents Kilkenny County Council on the Assembly.  Cllr. Brennan, a full-time public representative, has been a member of Kilkenny County Council since 1989, representing the Castlecomer electoral district.  

Cllr. Brennan is heavily involved in his local community groups including Castlecomer Town Development Association, the Clauneen Hurling Club, the Castlecomer Enterprise Group of which he is Vice Chair and PRO, and the Colreg Christian Housing Association.

Cllr Brennan said it "was an honour to be elected Cathaoirleach of the Southern Regional Assembly and he would work to the best of his abilities on the many issues facing the region with the full co-operation of his colleagues".
