Interreg NWE’s Call 8 Closes with Strong Irish Presence

Interreg North-West Europe’s eight funding call closed on 22/11/18 and has shown continued Irish interest in the programme. Of the 69 applications received, 31 involved both public and private sector organisations from across the country. The outcome will be known in early February.

Interreg North-West Europe supports cooperation projects across a significant part of the EU with the aim to reduce disparities between these regions to increase performance in the areas of innovation, low carbon, and resource and materials efficiency. A variety of Irish organisations are involved in 34 of the 70 projects which have been approved by programme across these three priorities.

The programme received 35 innovation, 14 low carbon, and 20 resource and materials efficiency applications.  The split is more even from an Irish perspective, with 12 innovation, 9 low carbon, and 10 resource and materials efficiency.  Most applicants are located in the Southern and the Eastern & Midlands regions, with a quarter based in the Northern & Western region.

The programme will launch the ninth call in December with an anticipated deadline set for June.  For further information about Interreg North West Europe, please contact Siobhan Rudden at the Southern Regional Assembly: srudden@southernassembly.ie or 051 860700.
