Cork City Council, representing the Southern Regional Assembly has recently completed a three-year European Interregional learning program with eight other European partners. The learning program known as INTENSIFY aims to improve engagement by local authorities with citizens in order to influence and change behaviours that will result in reduced greenhouse gas emissions. Based on learnings from the other project partners Cork City Council has prepared a Regional Action Plan. This plan outlines the actions to be taken by Cork Council on behalf of the Southern Regional Assembly to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through intense community engagement. The plan will bolster the Assemblies Regional Operational programs priority No.4 – the shift towards a low carbon economy. The Action plan focuses on intensifying engagement with homeowners to improve the energy efficiency of their homes and as a result reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions.
