There’s no stopping us on the MARIE project ….

Interregional exchange on the planned RRI Contact Point in Bucharest

Phase-1 is finished for MARIE, but partners were granted some budget for additional exchange activities over the next years within Phase-2. The initial idea was to travel to the beautiful city of Bucharest and participate in an RRI focused Innovation Café ….COVID 19 has put that on hold for a while, but that doesn’t mean the exchange stops!
At the end of last year, the Southern Regional Assembly (SRA) heard from our Romanian partner UEFISCD about their plan to create RRI Ambassadors in Bucharest. We were keen to learn more. Is this something that could be set up in Ireland too?
With a little help from technology, SRA and UEFISCDI set up a meeting to talk over the idea.
UEFISCDI are setting up RRI Ambassadors within their already established Innovation Café Team. This means that they will have a network of people supporting regional stakeholders to find out about RRI and about how to access opportunities. Support will be provided on-line, through guidance, mentoring and through the forum of the regular Innovation Café events.
This was a first chance to exchange ideas and questions. UEFISCDI will keep us up to date with how the work plan for the RRI Ambassadors unfolds and SRA will consider any elements that could be transferred into the region.
There is so much to learn about RRI, that the exchange just never stops!!

The Southern Regional Assembly as a partner in the MARIE project is seeking to improve regional public policy that supports delivery of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) in design, production and distribution of innovation in Smart Specialisation Sectors (S3). Policy changes within the project are expected to lead to a greater awareness of the socio-economic benefits of responsibility, to prevent the negative impact and contribute to a better quality of life.

MARIE is part-funded by the Interreg Europe Programme, through the European Regional Development Fund and is led by CISE – Special Agency of the Chamber of Commerce of Florì-Cesena, Italy.

MARIE will run until 2021, find out more about MARIE here.
